Who is actually in the room

One beautician, and you, in whichever room in your own home you choose, with the door closed. Nobody else from our side comes along for these appointments. If you would feel more comfortable with a family member present in the room, that is entirely your call to make and it changes nothing about how the appointment runs.

This is, honestly, the whole case for booking these two areas at home rather than at a parlour. A salon cubicle has a curtain, not a door, and the sounds and shapes of other appointments happening a few feet away on either side. At home the room is yours and the appointment ends when it ends, with no queue outside.

Which wax, and why it matters more here

We recommend Rica wax for both areas without exception, even for clients who use honey wax everywhere else. Rica grips the hair far more than the skin, which matters most on skin that is thinner and more sensitive than an arm or a leg. Honey wax on these two areas has a real chance of lifting skin along with the hair, and that is not a risk worth the small saving.

The hygiene questions worth asking directly

Ask any home service these two things before booking a sensitive area, ours included: whether the spatula is new for you and whether it gets double dipped back into the pot mid-session. The correct answer to both is immediate and without hedging.

• New strips and a fresh spatula, every time. For every client, not reused across a working day. A spatula that has touched your skin does not go back into the wax pot.
• You can ask to see the wax pot opened. There is nothing to hide in a clean setup, and we would rather you watch than take our word for it.
• Stop at any point is a real option, not a formality. If something feels wrong or too uncomfortable partway through, say so and we stop. This is said out loud before starting, not left for you to assume.

A few practical things that make the appointment easier

• Hair should be about the length of a grain of rice. Too short and the wax cannot grip properly, which means a patchier result. If you are unsure, message a photo before booking rather than guessing.
• Avoid these two areas in the two days before an important event. Not for safety, purely for timing. Mild redness usually settles within a few hours but can take longer on these areas specifically, so book three days ahead of anything important rather than the day before.
• A loose, soft fabric to change into afterwards helps. Tight elastic against freshly waxed skin for the first hour or two is uncomfortable for most people. Not required, just genuinely more comfortable.
• Skip if you are on your period, if you prefer. Entirely your choice either way, and not something you need to explain when booking — just mention the date you would rather avoid.
