What to expect
There are two options. Honey wax costs less and works perfectly well on normal skin. Rica wax costs more but grips the skin far less, so it is what we recommend for sensitive skin, ingrown hair, or anyone who breaks out in bumps after every session. The beautician will explain the difference and then let you decide. We do not push the expensive one.
Strips and spatulas are new for every client, and we never double dip. That means once a spatula has touched your skin it does not go back into the wax pot. It sounds like a small detail, but it is the single biggest cause of infection in salon waxing.
For threading, a fresh length of thread is pulled for every client. We do not rush eyebrow shaping either. We show you the shape and confirm the thickness you want before starting, because there is no undo button on an eyebrow.

Before and after waxing
Before your appointment
- Hair needs to be at least a quarter inch long to wax cleanly — freshly shaved skin often can't be waxed the same week.
- Skip moisturiser or oil on the area right before the appointment. Wax does not hold on an oiled surface.
After your appointment
- Skin is more sun-sensitive for about 24 hours, so keep waxed areas out of direct sun that day.
- Loose clothing over the area reduces irritation immediately afterward.
- Mild redness is normal and usually settles within a few hours; a cool compress helps if it does not.

Does Rica wax really hurt less than honey wax?
Most clients find it does, though it comes down to individual skin. Rica grips the hair, not the skin, so it pulls with less force and leaves less redness afterward — that is the whole reason it costs more and is what we recommend for sensitive skin or ingrown hair. Honey wax works perfectly well on normal skin and is not a lesser option, just a different one.
Do you bring everything needed for waxing?
Yes. The beautician arrives with the products, towels and all equipment required. You only need to provide a comfortable space and one power point. Kits are branded and are unsealed in front of you.
