April to July, this is the single most booked category on our list, and also the one where the booking most often does not match what the client actually needed. Bleach and de-tan get asked for interchangeably. They do different things.
A scooter ride with the sleeves pushed up, twenty minutes in the afternoon sun, is enough to leave a visible line at the wrist by evening. Jaipur summers do that reliably. What fixes it depends on which of the two problems you actually have, so that is where this guide starts.
Bleach and de-tan solve different problems
Bleach oxidises the fine hair on your skin so it turns pale and stops being visible against the skin tone. It also lifts the very top layer slightly, which is why skin looks brighter right after. What it does not do is remove tan. If the tan is sitting deep, bleach lightens the hair on top of it and the tan is still there underneath, which is the single most common reason a bleach "did not work".
De-tan is a pack, usually with ingredients like papaya, tomato or activated charcoal, left on for fifteen to twenty minutes and then scrubbed off. It physically lifts the tanned, dead surface layer of skin. That is the correct service for a visible tan line from sun exposure, and it does nothing for fine hair visibility, because that was never the problem it treats.
Our beautician will look at your skin before opening either kit and tell you which one you actually need, even if you booked the other. If genuinely both apply, a combination pack does bleach first and de-tan after, since doing it the other way undoes the bleach step.

Bleach shows a result immediately and it fades over ten to fourteen days as the treated hair grows out. De-tan lifts what is on the skin right now, and new tan starts building again from the next time you are out in the sun, so neither one is a permanent change. That is worth knowing before you book expecting either to last the whole summer.
Which skin should be careful with bleach
Bleach is a mild chemical process and it is not the right choice for every skin, whatever the price list suggests.
- Sensitive or reactive skin. If your skin flares up to fragranced products, or you have had a burning reaction to bleach before, we will suggest a fruit-based de-tan or a brightening facial pack instead. The result is gentler and it does not carry the same risk.
- Active breakouts, sunburn or broken skin. Bleach is not applied over active acne, a fresh sunburn or any broken skin. It will sting and it can make irritation worse. We skip the area and tell you at the door rather than push through it.
- Recent threading or waxing on the same area. Skin that has just been threaded or waxed is more reactive for a few hours. If you want both done in one visit, waxing or threading goes first and bleach follows after a short gap, never the other way round.
- Pregnancy. We do not refuse bleach outright for pregnant clients, but skin during pregnancy reacts differently and unpredictably, so we always patch test first and go gentler than usual on the sitting.
A patch test behind the ear, five minutes, happens before every bleach service, including for clients who have had it done with us before and tell us they have never reacted. It is the one step we do not skip to save time, because the one time it goes wrong is the time it matters.
What bleach and de-tan will not fix
Both are surface treatments, and it is worth being honest about the edge of that.
- Neither changes your natural skin tone. What they remove is added tan and surface dullness. Once that is gone, your skin returns to its own base tone, not a lighter shade of it. Anyone promising permanent fairness is promising something no bleach or de-tan pack can deliver.
- Deep pigmentation and melasma need a dermatologist. Patchy dark marks that do not fade with a normal tan, especially around the upper lip or cheekbones, are usually pigmentation rather than tan, and a de-tan pack will not touch them. That is a skin doctor's subject, not ours, and we will say so rather than sell you a repeat course.
- The result does not last the season. A de-tan clears what is there today. Ten minutes back on the scooter tomorrow starts the same process again. Through peak summer, once every two to three weeks is the rhythm that actually keeps up, not a single sitting before a wedding.
Tan is temporary and treating it is temporary too. We would rather tell you that than sell a "permanent fairness" pack that does not exist.
Not sure whether you need bleach, de-tan, or both? Send a photo on WhatsApp before you book and we will tell you honestly which one applies.
Common questions
What is the difference between bleach and de-tan?
Bleach lightens the fine hair on your skin so it stops standing out; it does not remove tan sitting underneath. De-tan is a scrub-off pack that physically lifts tanned surface skin; it does nothing for hair visibility. A visible tan line needs de-tan. Overall skin brightness needs bleach. If both apply, bleach is done first and de-tan after.
How much does bleach and de-tan cost at home in Jaipur?
Face bleach is ₹249, face and neck ₹299, full arms ₹349 and full legs ₹399. Full body bleach starts from ₹1,199. A face de-tan pack is ₹299 and full arms de-tan is ₹399. Full body polishing, which combines scrub, de-tan and a massage, starts from ₹1,499 for about 75 minutes.
How long does the result last?
Bleach fades over ten to fourteen days as the treated hair grows out. De-tan lifts what is on the skin at the time of the appointment, and new tan starts building again the next time you are out in the sun. Neither is permanent, so through peak summer we suggest every two to three weeks rather than a one-off before an event.
Is bleach safe for sensitive skin?
We patch test every single time, without exception, including for repeat clients. For skin that reacts easily, or has active breakouts, a fresh sunburn or broken skin, we suggest a fruit-based de-tan pack or a brightening facial instead of bleach. We will tell you at the door if an area should be skipped rather than go ahead anyway.
Will bleach or de-tan make my skin permanently fairer?
No, and we would rather say that plainly than sell you a repeat course. Both remove added tan and surface dullness. Once that is gone, skin returns to its own natural base tone rather than a lighter one. Deep, patchy pigmentation that does not fade with a normal tan is a dermatologist's subject, not something a de-tan pack treats.
