Home salon service has gone from a novelty in Jaipur to something most colonies have three or four options for. That growth has been good for prices and bad for quality, because the barrier to setting up is a phone number and a bag of products.
This is what a home booking actually involves, what it should cost, and how to tell a trained beautician from someone who bought a kit last month. Some of it is not flattering to us either.
What you are actually booking
One beautician, one appointment, everything carried in with her. That is the whole model. She arrives with the products, the towels, the steamer, the pedicure tub and the tools. You provide a comfortable spot with reasonable light and one power point.
The real difference from a salon is not the setting, it is the clock. In a salon your appointment is one of six that afternoon, and the first thing that gets shortened when the chairs fill up is the facial massage, which is the part actually doing the work. At home there is no next client in the room, so a fifty minute facial is fifty minutes.
The second difference is that nobody else touches your kit. In a busy parlour the same wax pot serves everyone in the room. That is fine when the rules are followed and it is the source of most post waxing infections when they are not.
A home booking does not buy you a better treatment. It buys you the whole treatment, done at the pace it was designed for.
What it costs against a Jaipur salon
Home service is usually sold at a premium, on the logic that you are paying for the travel. Ours is not, and the reason is unglamorous: there is no shop rent in Vaishali Nagar or Malviya Nagar to cover. That is the single largest line in a salon's costs and it lands on your bill.

What to watch for is not the headline rate but what gets added at the end. A ₹399 facial that becomes ₹650 because of a "kit charge" and a "visiting charge" is the oldest trick in this business. Ask for the final number in writing before you confirm, and if it is not given in writing, that is your answer.
Four questions worth asking before you confirm
These take ninety seconds on WhatsApp and they tell you almost everything. Ask them of us too.
- Is the wax spatula double dipped?The right answer is no, without hedging. Once a spatula has touched skin it must not return to the pot. This is the single biggest cause of infection in waxing anywhere, and it happens constantly because re dipping saves wax and time.
- What is the final price, including everything?Ask for it in writing. A business that quotes a range on the phone and a number at your door is planning for the number to be higher.
- Who exactly is coming, and is she trained?You should get a name before the visit. "Someone from our team" is not an answer when you are letting a stranger into your house for an hour.
- What happens if I am not happy with it?Any honest answer is fine. A blank one is not. A business that has never thought about this has never had to.

What a home service genuinely cannot do
This is the part most home services leave out, and it is the part that decides whether you are disappointed.
- Anything medical. Active inflamed acne, rosacea, an eczema flare, or skin currently on a dermatologist's prescription. Extraction on inflamed acne spreads it. We turn these bookings down and tell you why.
- Pigmentation, melasma and acne scarring. These sit below the surface of the skin. No facial reaches that depth at any price. That is a clinic question and pretending otherwise is how ₹1,899 gets wasted.
- Skin lightening. De tan lifts surface tan and polishing removes dead skin, so skin looks brighter because it is clean. Your actual tone does not change. Anyone in this city promising permanent fairness is lying to you.
- Chemical rebonding and clinic grade machines. Rebonding needs a rig and a controlled environment. A machine based hydra facial uses vortex suction that cannot safely be carried to a house. If you need those, a salon or a clinic is the right call and we will say so.

Getting the slot you actually want
Almost every home service in Jaipur runs on routes rather than on a booking grid, which is why availability looks random from the outside. It is not. It is geography.
- Weekday mornings are wide open almost everywhere. If your schedule allows it, this is where the choice is. Bani Park in particular is easy before eleven and difficult after.
- Weekday evenings and Sundays are the crush. Mansarovar and Malviya Nagar evening slots go three or four days ahead because so many clients there work office hours.
- Same day works where a beautician is already nearby. Sodala, Chitrakoot and New Sanganer Road are our most reliable, because those routes run daily. Sitapura and the far end of Kalwar Road are not, because they do not.
- Longer treatments need an off peak slot. A three hour bridal booking cannot start at 6 PM on Amrapali Marg and finish on time. Anyone who says it can has not driven it.
The single most useful thing you can do when booking is name a landmark rather than a plot number. Map pins in Raja Park and Jawahar Nagar are routinely one lane out, and ten minutes lost at your gate comes out of your appointment, not ours.

Is a salon at home cheaper than going to a parlour?
For the same treatment, usually by 25 to 35 percent, because there is no shop rent in the price. The trade is that you get one beautician rather than a team of specialists, so anything needing a rebonding rig or a clinic machine is genuinely better done at a salon.
Is it safe to call a beautician to my house?
It is, provided you check three things: that you are given the beautician's name before the visit, that the business has a real registered address you can look up rather than only a phone number, and that they answer the double dipping question without hedging. Any service that will not do all three is one to skip.
How much notice do I need to give?
For a weekday morning, often none at all. For a weekday evening or a Sunday, two to three days in most areas. For anything over two hours, or anywhere at the outer edge of the city like Sitapura or the far end of Kalwar Road, a day of notice makes a real difference to what we can offer you.
Do I need to arrange anything before the appointment?
A comfortable spot with decent light and one power point. That is all. She brings products, towels, steamer, tub, trolley and tools. If you live in a gated society, leaving her name at the gate saves about ten minutes at the barrier.
