Our guide on facial and threading order covers why sequence matters when combining treatments on the same skin. Bleach and facial together follow the same underlying logic, and it is worth its own direct answer since it comes up almost as often.
The short answer: facial first, bleach after, for the same reason threading goes after a facial rather than before.
Why facial first
A facial cleanses and lightly exfoliates skin, which means bleach applied afterward works on a genuinely clean surface, absorbing more evenly than it would over skin with leftover product or surface debris from earlier in the day. Bleach applied first, then a facial over freshly bleached skin, risks irritation on skin that is already more reactive right after the bleaching process.
How much time to leave between the two
A short gap, similar to the 20 to 30 minutes suggested for facial and threading, lets skin settle from the facial before bleach goes on. This is typically how a combined booking with us is already sequenced when both are requested together.
What if bleach is the only thing you actually need
If tone is the only concern and skin does not need a full facial, our full body bleach guide and our bleach-and-de-tan guide both cover booking bleach on its own, which is entirely reasonable and does not require pairing it with a facial at all.
Booking both together
Booking a facial and bleach on the same visit? Just mention both when you book, and the appointment will be sequenced facial first, bleach after, with the settling time built in automatically.
Common questions
Should bleach come before or after a facial?
After. A facial cleanses skin so bleach absorbs more evenly afterward, while bleach applied first leaves skin more reactive right when a facial would otherwise be applied over it.
How long should I wait between a facial and bleach in the same visit?
About 20 to 30 minutes, similar to the gap recommended between a facial and threading, giving skin time to settle from the facial before bleach is applied.
Can I book bleach on its own without a facial?
Yes, this is entirely reasonable if tone is the only concern and a full facial is not needed. Our bleach and de tan guide covers booking it as a standalone service.
Is it safe to combine bleach, a facial and waxing all in one visit?
It is safer to limit a single visit to two of these exfoliating or chemical treatments rather than three. Stacking bleach, a facial and waxing together in one day increases the chance of irritation regardless of the order.
