Ask for the exact number in writing before you confirm. Not a range, a number. If a service will only quote a range on the phone, assume the real number is the top of that range.
A name before she arrives
You should know who is coming before she knocks. "Someone from our team" is not an answer when you are letting a person into your house for an hour, and it is a reasonable thing to insist on regardless of who you book with.
Ask, too, how many years the specific person has been doing the work, not how many years the business has existed. Those are different numbers and only one of them is in the room with you.
What happens when it goes wrong
Any honest answer to this question is fine. An eyebrow shape you do not like, a colour that comes out warmer than expected, a massage that is too light: ask what the plan is if that happens. A business that has never thought about it has never had to, which usually means it has not been doing this very long.
A registered, checkable business
A phone number and an Instagram page are not a business. Ask whether there is a registered address you can look up, and whether the beautician holds an actual credential rather than a claim of experience with nothing behind it.

The best sign of a trustworthy home salon is not a five star rating. It is being told no to a booking that would have made them money.
