Ask most women what they want done to their eyebrows and the answer is 'just shape them'. Which shape is the actual decision, and the one that goes wrong most often, because brows that do not suit the face are hard to fix once the hair is gone.
The shape of your face and the natural growth of your brows tell you most of what you need. Here is how to read both.
Three points that decide the shape
Take a thin pencil or a brush handle. These three checks work for almost any face and show where your brow naturally belongs.
- Where the brow startsHold the pencil straight up against the side of your nose. The brow should begin roughly where the pencil crosses it. Starting too far in makes the eyes look closer together; too far out makes the face look wider.
- Where the arch peaksAngle the pencil from the side of the nose past the outer edge of the iris while you look straight ahead. The arch usually sits roughly where the pencil crosses the brow.
- Where the brow endsAngle the pencil from the side of the nose to the outer corner of the eye. The brow should end roughly where the pencil crosses it. Longer than this drags the face down.
Brow shapes by face type
| Face shape | What usually works | What to be careful of |
|---|---|---|
| Round | A defined, slightly higher arch that adds angle | Very round, low brows that repeat the roundness |
| Oval | A soft, gently arched brow. Most shapes suit | Over-arching, which can look surprised |
| Square | A softly curved brow with a rounded arch, which softens the jaw | Very straight, harsh brows that add to the angles |
| Heart | A rounded brow with a softer arch that balances the wide forehead | A very high peak that adds to forehead width |
| Long | A flatter, straighter brow that reduces the length | A high arch that makes the face look longer |
Threading versus waxing for brows
For the eyebrows themselves, threading is usually the better choice. It removes hair one line at a time, which gives a sharper, more controlled edge than wax can, and there is less risk of lifting skin or irritating the area. Waxing is quicker across larger areas. Our comparison of face threading and waxing covers when each one fits.
| Service | Price | Time |
|---|---|---|
| Eyebrow threading | ₹29 | 10 min |
| Upper lip threading | ₹30 | 5 min |
| Forehead or chin threading | ₹30 | 5 min |
| Full face threading | ₹149 | 25 min |
The low price is not a sign of a rushed job. Threading needs no wax, no strips and no heating, so there is little material to charge for. Our explanation of why threading is priced so low goes into it.
How we approach the shape
We do not rush eyebrow shaping. The beautician shows you the shape, confirms the thickness you want, and only then begins. That conversation is the entire point of doing it at home, because there is no undo button on an eyebrow.
- Tell us what you want to keep. Thicker, thinner, softer or sharper. It changes the plan.
- Bring a reference photo. As a direction, not a template. Your brows are not the ones in the photo.
- Speak up during the shaping. It is fine to say stop or leave this a little thicker.
If you have over-plucked in the past
Thin or patchy brows are usually recoverable, though it takes patience. Hair grows back at different rates, and some follicles may be slower after years of plucking.
- Stop removing hair for four to six weeksLet the brow grow out fully so you can see what you actually have.
- Leave the shaping to a professional afterwardsOnly the stray hairs outside the natural line get removed, not the ones you are trying to grow.
- Fill gaps with a brow pencil in the meantimeIt covers patches while growth catches up.
- Be honest about what will not returnSome hair may never grow back fully. A good result works with what is there.
Tell us your face shape and how you like your brows, or what you are trying to grow out. The beautician will suggest a shape and confirm it with you before the first thread.
Common questions
How do I know which eyebrow shape suits me?
Use a pencil against the side of your nose to find where the brow should start, arch and end, then follow your natural growth. Face shape then guides how high or soft the arch should be.
How much does eyebrow threading cost at home in Jaipur?
₹29 for eyebrows, ₹30 each for upper lip, forehead or chin, and ₹149 for the full face.
Is threading better than waxing for eyebrows?
Usually yes. Threading gives a sharper, more controlled line and puts less strain on the skin. Waxing suits larger areas better.
How often should I get my eyebrows threaded?
Every two to four weeks, depending on how quickly your hair grows back.
Can over-plucked eyebrows grow back?
Often, but slowly. Leave them alone for four to six weeks, then have only stray hairs removed. Some hair may not return fully.
Is a fresh thread used every time?
Yes, a fresh length of thread for every client, so nothing is reused.
