A bridal hairstyle is not judged on the mirror. It is judged after six hours under a heavy dupatta, with a maang tikka pulling on it, in a hot marquee. That changes what makes a good choice.
Three styles and where each works
| Style | Suits | Holds well when | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Low or high bun | Most lengths, long ceremonies | Pinned securely with a dupatta over it | Very fine hair may need padding for volume |
| Soft curls | Medium to long hair | Set with product and left mostly untouched | Can drop in heat and humidity |
| Braid | Long, thick hair | Anchored with jewellery or flowers | Heavy braids can pull on the scalp all day |
Things that decide the choice
- The dupatta or veil. It has to be pinned in a way that stays put and lifts off cleanly for the ceremonies. Tell the artist how you will wear it before the style is chosen.
- Jewellery. A maang tikka, a jhoomar or a large hair ornament all need an anchor point. Bring them to the trial.
- Hair length and volume. Fine hair needs padding or clip-in help for a full bun. A trial shows whether your own hair will carry it.
- The weather. In Jaipur summers and monsoons, curls fall faster. A pinned style survives heat better than a loose one.
- Hair condition. Dry, frizzy hair will not hold a neat style. A hair spa a week or so before helps.
What it costs
Hairstyling on its own is ₹599 and takes about 40 minutes. Booked with party makeup it is ₹1,999 for both, and it can be added to a bridal makeup booking. Draping the saree or lehenga is a separate ₹499, and it is worth booking in the same visit so the dupatta and the hair are set together.
Send us a photo of your outfit and jewellery and we will suggest which style suits your hair.
