Most Indian hair starts very dark, and that changes what colour can do. A shade that looks light and golden on a chart will often come out darker and warmer on black hair, unless the hair is lightened first, which is a different and riskier process.

Why dark hair changes the answer
- Colour deposits, it does not lift. A regular colour will not make black hair much lighter. It adds tone and depth, so the visible shift is often subtle.
- Going light takes lightening. This uses stronger products and can dry hair. It is best assessed in person, and it is not something to expect from a single quick sitting.
- Hair history matters. Previous colour, straightening or keratin changes how new colour takes.
